Fortitude For Beginners

Learning guitar is as tough as cheap steak for some. Certain people pick it up easily, and others have a worse time than Richard Simmons' fashion sense – nothing seems to really work and it's kinda blinding. But don't give up.

You can't let your determination fall by the wayside because you don't seem to be able to progress. Determination is going to dictate whether you are successful or not. On the positive side, basic odds say that the more you try something the more likely you are to succeed at it.

So keep going with it. Don't give up.

If you find you are getting too frustrated with your practice. Put it down and then come back to it after twenty minutes. Go punch a pillow. Smack a racist. Or smoke a fatty.

Let out some of that frustration somehow.

My own experience is a love/hate relationship. I love it with the passion of Don Juan, but I hate it like I hate Hitler some days. That hate for the guitar gives me the determination to come back to it, and swear to myself that I would get it. Eventually, I would get it and BAM, I love it all over again. It's a cyclical process.

These are your staples:

1. Emotion
2. Determination

With these, you are well upon your way.
